2. Ecton Hill Panorama

Distance: ~6.8 miles (11 km) | Difficulty: Moderate | Highlights: Historic copper mines and 360-degree views

For those who want height, this walk climbs the sandstone ridges that define the local skyline.

The Route: From Wetton Road, follow the signs toward Ecton Hill. You’ll pass through fields that once housed one of the deepest copper mines in the country.

The View: At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with views stretching across to the Dragon’s Back (Chrome and Parkhouse Hills).

3. The Butterton Ford & Village Stroll

Distance: ~3 miles (4.8 km) | Difficulty: Easy | Highlights: The unique "street-river" ford

Perfect for a late afternoon wander, this route explores the unique architecture of Butterton itself.

The Route: Walk down Wetton Road into the village centre to see the famous Butterton Ford, where the road actually runs along the bed of the Hoo Brook for several metres.

Post-Walk: Reward your boots with a pint or a meal at the Black Lion Inn, a local favourite focused on sustainability and hearty Peak District food.
