Waterslacks Camping Barn
Sleeps 15

"The barn is absolutely ideal for a walking/camping trip and has pretty much everything you'd need for a weekend away. The local area is very picturesque and there's a cracking local pub in Butterton."

Waterslacks Camping Barn is a traditional stone field barn in the Peak District, thoughtfully adapted to provide simple, spacious group accommodation in a truly secluded countryside setting.

Perched on the edge of the dramatic Manifold Valley, the barn enjoys stunning views across steep-sided hills and unspoilt landscape, offering a memorable back-to-nature experience for guests who enjoy the outdoors and don’t mind a more rustic style of stay.

Spacious Shelter for Larger Groups

Inside, the large main barn area features three generous wooden sleeping platforms, comfortably accommodating up to 15 guests.

Guests are asked to bring their own sleeping bags, pillows, and camping mats to create a comfortable sleeping space. A curtain can be drawn to provide privacy between two of the platforms when needed.

Simple Kitchen and Practical Facilities

The barn includes a basic kitchen and dining area with:

  • Picnic benches for shared meals

  • Storage units, sink, and fridge

  • Cooking slabs (guests should bring their own camp stove, cookware, plates, mugs, and cutlery)

There is also:

  • A WC and wash basin within the barn

  • An electric shower, which provides the only source of running hot water

While there is no central heating, wall-mounted quartz heaters provide effective warmth in the main living areas.
Electricity is supplied via a coin meter (£1 coins required), typically costing around £15–£20 for a winter weekend, and less during warmer months.

Outdoor Space, Campfires and Fresh Air

Outside, guests benefit from:

  • Off-road parking for around ten cars (with final access via a short walking track)

  • A grassed terrace at the front of the barn

  • A designated campfire area where you are welcome to enjoy an evening fire (please bring your own wood)

Additional guests may camp on the grassed area by prior arrangement and an extra charge.

Pets are welcome by advance agreement, with numbers kept limited for comfort and safety.

What’s Included
